The Proper Way of Griddle Cleaning after Each Cooking

Griddles are excellent for cooking pancakes, steaks, fried eggs, burgers and sausages etc. It is helpful in kitchens of most families, but not every one of us knows how to clean it properly after each use. The cleaning method I introduce here actually works on all stainless steel or chrome griddles, built-in or countertop. The method is easy, and if your griddle is of good quality, it can actually keep it looking brand-new for years to come. The major cleaning steps are as follows:

1

Step 1

Get ready the required cleaning tools or kitchen aids. Normally what are required include hot water, metal spatula, paper towels, and cooking oil. If your griddle is really very dirty, you also need to prepare mild dish soap. Please remember never to use abrasive detergent or dish washers which will possibly destroy the nice and seasoned finish.

Step 2
Clean the griddle at the best moment. After finish cooking, the griddle is still very hot which will perhaps burn your hands. Wait a little moment for it to cool down. When the griddle is still warm, you can begin to scrape off the food debris using a flat metal spatula. Scrape back and forth. Remember to keep the flat edge of spatula flat against the surface, so that you don’t scratch it. After this you can sweep the debris into the grease cup at the end of the griddle.

Step 3

Pour hot water (or water with a drop of dish soap) over the griddle surface. The hot water will make it easier for the residue to come off.

4

Step 4
Place a folded-up towel on the griddle surface, and then set the flat metal spatula onto the towel and keep scrubbing back and forth to remove the dirty water and debris. If necessary, you can repeat step 3 and step 4 for several times.

5

Step 5
Remove the grease cup and wash in the sink. Rinse and dry thoroughly, so as to prevent it from rust.

Step 6

When it’s dry, season the griddle surface with cooking oil. All you have to do is rub its surface with oil and then pick somewhere cool and dry to store it. This will further protect the griddle top from rust.
