Basic Dry Rub Recipe for Barbecue

Practically speaking, barbecue is a way of cooking which is pretty flexible and gives all possibilities, since you can simply place whatever you want to eat on the grate. That is something we love about barbecue. Same thing goes for rubs. If you are getting the rubs from supermarket, next time you should try some of your self-made barbecue rubs, and it gives your barbecue party more flavors as well as fun.

It is something really easy, actually. All you need is to prepare some basic ingredients for the rub, including brown sugar, cayenne, chili powder, paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.

Here’s a rub recipe which goes especially good with pork:

1 cup brown sugar;

1 tbsp kosher salt;

2 tbsp fresh ground pepper;

1 tbsp cayenne;

1 tbsp chili powder;

1 tbsp ground cumin;

1 tbsp garlic powder;

1 tbsp onion powder.

All you need is to mix up all these ingredients well, and then keep then in a sealed bag. The rub can be kept for months. In fact, the homemade rub is a matter of personal preference, thus you can adjust the amount of each ingredient the way you want it, of course. Cut the cayenne in half if you don’t eat spicy, or add some more if you are a fan of spicy food.

The ingredients above are actually the base of almost all rubs. They can be easily found in food stores, supermarkets, or online shops. Give it a try to your next barbecue, making your food nothing short of flavor!
