Caribbean Jerk Chicken

In today’s recipe we are going to show you the way how grilled Caribbean jerk chicken is made. The juicy, flavorful and slightly charred chicken will in no time deliver you the refreshing breeze from Caribbean, as if you are lying under the warm sunshine in Jamaican beach.

Ingredients you’ll need:

Chicken thighs or wings

3 green onion, chopped

3 garlic cloves, chopped

2 habanero chilies

1 small onion

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp ground allspice

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp ground pepper

1 tbsp grated ginger

1 tsp ground nutmeg

1/4 tsp cinnamon

2 tbsp chopped thyme

1/4 cup white vinegar

1 tbsp soy sauce

1/4 cup lime juice

1/4 cup orange juice

1/4 cup vegetable oil

Royal Gourmet Silicone Barbecue Brush

Royal Gourmet Barbecue Tongs

 

 

All the marinade spices will be put in a food processor, therefore you just need to roughly chop the ingredients such as green onion, garlic, thyme, chilies.


Habanero and thyme are really important for making this Caribbean-style grilled chicken, giving the chicken a spicy and fragrant flavor. Meanwhile, the liquid like orange juice, lime juice and vinegar help tender the meat, making it even juicier.

 

If you like your marinade more smooth, you simply push the work button of your processor longer accordingly.

 

While all the ingredients are well blended, pour it out in a large bowl. This is your flavorful Caribbean-style jerk sauce.

 

Take a sealable plastic bag and put the chicken, either thighs or wings as you like, together with the jerk sauce, toss to coat the chicken thoroughly. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.

 

Meanwhile, preheat your Royal Gourmet grill to a medium high heat and lightly oil the grates.

 

Once the chicken is well-marinated, place them on grates with your Royal Gourmet barbecue tongs. The coating will help the chicken from getting dried out. Grill the chicken over indirect heat for about 25 minutes, covered.

 

Baste occasionally with Royal Gourmet silicone barbecue brush with the marinade, keeping the chicken moist.

The flavorful marinade imparts the chicken special taste, and the grill contributes to the crispy outside as well as the juicy meat. A single bite will immediately transfer you to the beautiful Caribbean beach side.
